The are some moments of Manga silliness that jar with me but much of it is quite beautiful and the songs are pretty good - which is a little odd because some of the subtitled lyrics make little sense. I can only hope that when the immersive meta-verse finally arrive I'll be able to take a suitable cartoonish form and watch the whales swimming through the air.

Yeah, some of it worked for me. Some was a bit awkward. Overall, was pretty fine with the narrative choices.

The only thing that bothered me were that the two key moments of the film (involving belle and the beast) weren't really believable. It just felt very anime in how the plot managed to move forward in those moments.
