Most people don't want the truth

Here, especially in the USA we would like to think we get all the stories and worldwide news "on-time" and everything accurately. Sadly this is not the case . A story like this film is some of the real horrors that goes on in our world. Our news stations love to talk about "ISIS" and the bad Russians, and so on. Africa has had this type of child armies and hit squads for longer than we would like to think, and I'm sure the countries would admit. This film was excellent , and brought us an in your face look at the horrors that happen everyday that isn't in Iraq,Iran, and Afghanistan. It is the raw truth that hopefully more people just have their eyes open to. I don't expect anything to change because nothing will, but it's good for a film like this to come out and at least have people think twice (at the least once)

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

You do realize this is fiction?

I don't think the OP ever indicated he believed it to be a true story. He suggested it's representative of the true stuff that actually happens all over Africa, horrors that we in the West largely overlook because of our current obsession with the Mid East.

Television is a vice; film is an addiction.

I'm from Africa. And its actually insulting that you think this stuff is "representative" of what happens "all over" Africa. Africa has almost 60 countries, the events depicted in Beasts of No Nation mirrors a handful of conflicts, way back in the 1990s. How is that representative? Most of Africa is WAY safer than the US. Call me when Hollywood makes a movie about Africa that isn't about child soldiers or pirates.

Also, of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world, something like 6 of them are in Africa. Depictions of Africa in the media are a huge joke.

Ask yourself why every African American has some significant amount of European blood? Because whites are genocidal rapists.

child soldiers are not only in Africa.

No one said they're only in Africa. Why are people putting words in the OP's mouth that he/she didn't say?

It would be too non-PC to make a film about Afghan and Palestinian kids being brainwashed into becoming suicide terrorists with the promises of the virgins of paradise. The Iranians also used children to clear minefields during the Iran Iraq War.

What's the point of your message OP? We've all heard that "children starving in Africa" rant multiple times. These rants are just that, rants. Life goes on, indefinitely.

Bad things happen in the US, UK, etc. It's nothing new. Just human nature. You have people going crazy shooting up schools in the US. A series of ruthless narcotic warlords down south in Mexico. The world is all kinds of effed up.

I'm not sure what a film would make people think twice about. Life sucks, everyone should know that by now. The first thing we teach kids is that life isn't fair. I think everyone knows it by now.

To hear you speak we should not even teach anybody about the genocides and atrocities around the world because shiss happens, amirite? I mean, why even talk about it? Just suck it.

Are you retarded?!? Did you just seriously compared the shootings in the US with the warlords conflicts in Africa? What the hell is wrong with you? Life goes on? Just because you gave up or simply don`t care about what happens (or happened) to anyone else doesn´t mean others can´t talk about it how they please. Should we just tell the UN and Human Rights organizations to stop making reports on atrocities around the world? You don`t wanna hear about it because your sad pathetic life "sucks"? Really? Oh how you must have SUFFERED. Tell me baby boy, who hurt you? That`s much more important.

God freacking damn it how freacking sad can you get?
