Oscarssowhite: where do you stand?

I am right dab in the middle with this.
Alot of these white old farts standing up for the Academy are making valid, blunt, but valid points claiming it is an artistic choice and thats it. Sounds reasonable and great, right? Yeah, but the problem is they are white people saying it. Not a problem to me. I see it their way in that, yeah be mad that there are no black movies or actors nominated but what if you took the stance against the Academy without having seen those black involved films? What if you took the hard stance and then finally saw Concussion and realized it's garbage? You would have to stick with your race or your stance, but live with the secret that you agree with the Academy. Some times it is about the art. Denzel and Halle won the same year. Was it a fluke?

Here is where I am against the Academy:

I hear that it is predominantly white males. That's all I know about them and if that is true then of course we as a society, and a society that praises art, and gives money to pictures and television networks that air the oscars that give their awards to films as they see fit, have gone backwards. We need a diverse Academy full of all types of races to prove it is not about race. We need to see a super diverse Academy with many minorities pick only white movies to prove it is not about race. If these things don't happen in the next hundred years then we can come back and say "yeah, oscars WERE so white, and it WAS about race."
