Was he apart of a tribe or something?

His nickname is Tripod. He is called that becuase he has a big dick. He is naked to scare people with his big dick.

I read an article that said he was an actual rebel soldier and some soldier tribes fought naked so he demanded that he did so in the movie.

It is said that berserks used to fight naked too. I guess in their case they could move faster with no excess armor, but if they were hit, that'd be all for them, but fact they were mad enough to go into battle so unshielded made them appear even scarier.

Does it mention how they were able to film him running around nude in front of a bunch of child actors, because at first I was thinking they just shot them separately but then they were all shown running together so it made me wonder?

Good point!

Because nudity = sexuality is basically an American thing.

Other communities realize that people have skin and even "naughty bits", but that does not mean that they are always elements of sex. Take the Finnish sauna for instance - sauna is naked but not sexual.

What is happening in this film is war and killing, one guy is nearly nude, there are children around - who happen to be killing people -- so the nudity is the issue here?

I understand that about other cultures and wasn't looking at it as a sexual thing. I was looking at it from the point of filming as there are laws about what kids can do while filming and what can be done around them, which have been altered dramatically since the accident during the filming of the Twilight Zone movie where Vic Morrow and two kids were killed during an action sequence. So with these child actors doing the stunts that they were doing in the film, I was wondering how they were able to get past the child actor guidelines regarding a naked man, especially since the laws can be pretty strict in certain aspects, like being unable to film kids so far into the night among other things. Also with how unruly the MPAA is regarding things allowed in films, I was surprised that this got in when other instances of tamer sex in films being cut down to almost nothing in order to secure a R or even a PG-13 rating.

Different countries have different guidelines, the MPAA can refuse to rate a movie where animals are harmed because it's a UN convention but they cannot refuse nudity because even in children it is not a UN-wide thing, many countries have varying degrees on what age means what. So long as a child wasn't harmed the MPAA can only prudishly give the movie an R, they can't refuse to rate it.

Both Keira Knightly and Juno Temple did topless scenes at the age of 16 with parental permission, this would be illegal in the US but the movies were made in the UK and released in the US so not a crime, just a controversy.

It may have been a similar situation to "The Boy in Striped Pyjamas". There's a scene at the end where there are alot of older men that are required to be naked along with the two young boys. I read that there were lots of lawyers and parents there to ensure the safety of the children, so maybe something similar in this situation - lawyers/parents present during these scenes??

Idk just a thought

reply

I understand your question, but, they were all male. I thought the scenes were going for honesty and realism.

Annointed who plays Tripod was a real soldier in the Sierra Leonne war, his commander used to fight naked so he did the same in the movie as a tribute to his old commander.

Don't point that at me, point it at the producer.

reply

Difficult to explain, but the wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone really did have combatants who arrived ready for battle stripped of all clothing. It made them appear utterly insane.

It had the effect of spreading absolute terror among the opposing forces.

Look up General Butt Naked.

He was communing with the devil and sacrificing children. His followers copied everything he did.

Incidentally, the actor who played Tripod followed a commander in real life who also went into battle naked.

There was a General Buttnaked (yes, really!) from somewhere in Africa who'd fight naked. Became a minister as I recall. Truth is stranger than fiction lol
