They are a bunch of idiots controlled by the Hollywood´s big studios.
This film deserved a lot of nominations, at least.
In my opinion it should have been nominated in:
Best Director
Best Picture
Best Supporting Actor - Idris Elba
Best Actor - the main kid who I don't know his name off by heart
Best Cinematography
Beasts of no Nation was unfortunately not eligible for any Academy Awards (Oscars) because it premiered online on netflix the same day it did in theaters. So yeah, no racism here, there are rules in place. When they sold the movie to netflix they knew the Oscars would go out the window. They chose the money, the end.

Actually, no. The reason they had a limited release was to qualify it specifically for the Oscars. Had it not been screened in theatres it wouldn't have been eligible.
