that whole scene was just to get back to the beginning of the film where they had footage of a young "Leaf" jumping into the water. i think they should have had more archive footage of his youth, turned it into an entire documentary with footage and a backstory to coincide with the "mockumentary" aspect, because the latter couldn't hold up on its own merit.
