One of the worst films ever made.

Baz Luhrman's career has proven to be a great disappointment. This is one of the worst ever made, and way worse than one of HIS worst, Australia. I don't even think Moulin Rouge can hold up to scrutiny now.

I haven't seen this as I simply can't STAND Baz Luhrmann's work. *shudders*

reply

why not?

reply

His particular OTT style rubs me the wrong way. They're like a musicals without the songs, and I don't find them visually appealing.

reply

I guess the style is the least bad of it.

reply

What makes this one worse than Australia? I really loathed that one.

reply

I don't know, it was just so bad, the story so banal, DiCaprio doing his usual worst. Australia was terrible too, it had like three endings and it still wouldn't end.

reply

So I suppose I should only watch this if I'm hell bent on torturing myself for a couple of hours.

reply

It's just a nothing film, I guess it succeeded because in this day and age people forgot there was ever a thing like the 1920's.

reply

Does it have that plastic feeling? I don't think I can put myself through that and some bad acting.

reply

plastic feeling? well it looks plastic, like all digital films today.

reply

His even more so.

reply

it's gotten so bad that that is the standard, gatsby is not different.

reply

I see a similar trend in music production.

I guess digital is cheaper.
