Did Carmen's possession begin the moment she saw the statue? Or when she saw the demon in the mirror? Did the demon enter travel through the mirror and possess her then? I know she was scared sh*tless before that and was seeing hallucinations, but was she actually totally possessed before then?

yeah, I was thinking it was when both girls saw the statue it was inevitable. And that's why the guy was OK - he didn't go in.
How did the village people know, though??
by the way they acted, they had kind of a wild look in their eye, and im sure the priest knew what to look for due to experience.

I agree with the other posters on this thread. Also, I'm not sure if this is important or not, but both of the girls had thrown up at various times after seeing the statue.
