I was yelling at the guy to grab his gun and shoot the cultists. Then he *beep* HELPS them? wtf...... I wanted the entire village destroyed. I was hoping by the end of the movie every single person in that village would be dead. This movie's ending pissed me off.

I think that was the point and the best thing about the movie!
It was a twist, duh! Until that moment the three Americans were the "good guys" and the Poles the "bad guys" - and we were assuming that whatever the statue in the woods was, it had to do with their bizarro cult. AND you could see reflected in the actor's face the point at which he realized this. Just like in a zombie movie that some guy blows away his girlfriend to keep her from eating innocent people. It was the right thing to do. (apparently - the weirdo mask thing with the eye spikes - that's new - but again, we figured out that was the "solution" to this demon curse. Otherwise, they all would have been killed.
I thought the ending was good. He helps them because it's the right thing to do! He knows she's cursed and he basically has no choice.
