why such a low score?

Wrong. It has nothing to do with foreign language, the foreign language had very little to do with the plot and the thing that a lot of people dislike (subtitles) were not involved. Personally I watch foreign films all the time and I wouldn't have even thought of that when considering the quality of this movie.

One of the reason it has a lower rating is going to be that it's a horror movie, plain and simple. Most horror movies are rated on the lower side because people thing they're silly.

I thought this was pretty okay for a horror movie, but it's main flaw that could have made it bad: all of the characters were so ridiculously stupid that it made them unlikeable and unidentifiable, it was mostly the main character's fault but since the other two listened to her it was hard to feel bad for them either.

When you cannot relate to the characters at all and you dislike them so therefore don't care whether they die or not, it is hard to care much about the film as a whole and it lowers the quality.

Other than that I would agree that is was good, better than many other horror movies being made today, it probably should have a little bit of a higher rating, but still this is no perfect 10.

Just finished watching this movie about 15mins ago. Current rating is 5.6. I give it a 6.

The plot twist was good. However I felt that I couldnt relate much to the characters and the there was a few slow and unnecessary moments.

Good points aside from the plot twist was that it was only 81mins long and did not resort to unneedless sex scenes. (I'l forgive the early scene of Carmen having a shower and coming out- this had nothing to do with the story albeit there was not much skin shown).
