Good movie, but..

I like the story and the cursed statue (which was creepy as *beep* and really showed you it was the devil himself at work)
I also liked the masks, kind of crippling the devil's powers.

It's fiction, i get that. and u gotta let ur imagination play to make it seem as a plausible experience in films, but really; a photographer, a journalist and an intern find a dozen rotting corpses in coffin's with their faces impaled by iron masks. Am i really supposed to believe that those average day people would remain calm and even attempt to remove the masks, even breaking off a piece of skull on the missing young man they were looking for?

No, your average joe or jane, would freak the *beep* out, hyperventilate and either decent into shock or yell at the top of their lungs to get out of the room at the first sight of a dead corpse, let alone multiple mutilated, rotting ones.
