For People Who Have Actually Seen It...

Is it worth seeing if I am just looking for a cute, sweet romantic comedy? I am not expecting anything mind blowing...just an enjoyable chick flick.

I saw it at a preview showing last night and I was not impressed. To me it was a muddled plot line that took too long to get going, so-so acting (seemed to me their hearts were not in it), slow and boring at times. Not my cup of tea. But yes, it is deffinately a chic flick. Guys in the theater were sitting there rather bored and wishing they were somewhere else. So go to it ladies but leave your guys at home.

don't be so condescending. some "ladies" don't like this kind of crap either.

My My My testy today aren't we? For all you know I might be a "lady" or maybe not. But I am not in any way condescending! Read other peoples take of this movie and you will see I am not alone.

reply

then you're not alone in being condescending. what would it matter whether you're a female or not? i repeat, not all females like this kind of crap.

I saw it 2 nights ago and rather enjoyed it. Nothing earth shattering Jack was Okay, Reese was good in it and it gave me a few chuckels ,I was never boared at any point.
I'm a Guy that went with a Gal,go see it if you want a breezy easy flick to enjoy.

I was an extra in this, so this may influence what you are about to read. The movie seemed strangely edited. Side plots were begun, then dropped. The psychiatrist, the other ballplayers, etc were supposed to have a bigger part in the plot. The main love triangle seemed to lack development and jump suddenly without these side plots

I went to an advanced screening last night. I wasnt impressed. I felt like it was way too long, and should have been cut down by 30 minutes. I wanted to learn more about what was going on with Rudd and Nicholson's characters. Didnt care about the love triangle that much. 4.5/10

I had the good fortune of going to the LA premiere of this film. It took a moment to get going, but had bigger laughs than I expected and there was a scene towards the end that made me teary-eyed. I thought Paul Rudd was excellent and Owen Wilson was so great at being a loveable jerk. Some of the reviewers have been tearing apart the script, and I can't say they're all wrong, but if you're looking for a fun movie with quirky characters to take entertain you for a few hours then I think you'll enjoy it.

it's very relaxing.

Barring a reliably solid performance from Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson being funny doing what he always does, there is nothing in this film. Reese and Jack are quite disappointing. Reese's doesn't seem to have the same exuberance that she showed in some of her older films. Jack is even worse as he seems quite disinterested which is very weird because, whether he's good or bad in a movie, Jack is usually never disinterested.

i saw it today and would see it again for one reason--PAUL RUDD. he brought a lot to the movie. i can't imagine it without him.

it's not the best thing i've ever seen, but it was an enjoyable couple of hours. based on your criteria of cute, sweet, and enjoyable, i say go for it!

I consider this an average movie. I'd give it a grade of C+. Like several poters have said it is a little too long, 116 minutes is long for a comedy. And speaking of comedy, there were some laughs, but not a whole lot of them. It was an okay movie, average but nothing special.

Being inconsistent is better than being consistently bad.

reply

People's expectations were high because of the talent of the cast and the director.
But if this was made by not-so-talented people,it would have passed as an average film.
Take it from Chicago Tribune critic Roger Ebert, who said,"I expected a better film".

reply

It was extremely boring, not romantic, and all the comedy was done after about 20 minutes. The bulk of it was crappy drama and just awful acting from Reece Witherspoon.
