Would you describe this as a chick flick?

I wasn't getting that vibe at all, but have talked to several people who describe it as such. I think the term is starting to just get tossed around unfairly and used to describe any romantic comedy starring a female, it has somewhat of a negative connotation at this point. I felt this film presented equal parts of the male and female perspective. Interested in hearing other opinions on this one.

I am a chic. I have watched almost all of Jen Aniston's films. ( that's my creed lol) This is a chic flick. I loved it. It wasn't a 10, but def a strong 7. It's a love story not a comedy. Were there funny parts? Yes, but not enough to classify this as a comedy. It was a chic flic no questions.

This is why I think it is a chick flick...

it has Reese & Paul Rudd
every person lives in a gorgeously decorated expensive home
'evil ex' girlfriend character, crabby best friend character, 'crazy' pregnant character
it was mostly about love
female lead was pretty obnoxious but manages to get two dudes to fall for her at the same time

"female lead was pretty obnoxious but manages to get two dudes to fall for her at the same time"

That's exactly what makes it a chick flick. The female lead behaves badly but manages to get the supposedly happy ending.

I thought it got away without being labeled a chick flick because the two male leads were more equal than you usually get in these movies. It becomes more enjoyable for male viewers if we don't see the same cliches such as one guy being controlling, or works to much, or the usual resons where the females could care less about one guy as long as the other one was hot and sensitive. You get my point.

No. I'd describe it as a BAD flick, regardless of gender...

Born when she kissed me, died when she left me, lived whilst she loved me

A chick flick is not dependent on who is starring in it. It has to do with what kind of people want to see it.

Eastwood is a man's man and makes guy films. Except for "chick flicks" like Bridges of Madison County.

Yes, I would call this a chick flick. But kind of a brainy chick flick. Lots to think about after the credits start rolling.
