Could Owen Wilson be any more Owen Wilson-y in this?

The answer is no. I think it's the voice that does it for me. I laughed the hardest when he wasn't even delivering any funny lines. Just his little ticks and characteristics were enough. And the nose. Can't forget about the nose. It's the same nose, but boy was it doing some serious acting in this movie. He needed a wingman though. I was expecting Ben Stiller or Vince Vaughn to show up and have some witty banter, thus completing the Owen Wilson-iness.

I thought he stole every scene he was in. His mannerisms, especially in this movie, are a hoot.

He was perfect. I loved his line when she knocks on the door and says "it's Lisa" and he's like "can you narrow it down?". He is a comedy genius. (sorry I realise this is an old post).

I think he was particularly good because he was less Owen Wilson than usual. A lighter, less slap sticky performance that made you like the character more. Personally I don't enjoy the films with Vince Vaughn and Co. They seem unfunny, totally predictable and based on a form of humour I grew out of when I was about 15. So in this film I appreciated what seemed to me a more subtle OW - just a pity the cinema going audience at the time didn't.

He has some Albert Brooks retorts going on. I wonder if he writes them

You could say the same about him in most of his performances, especially in Wes Anderson movies. He's unique, borders on parodying himself, but he's still funny.
