Wasted potential. Such good premise and such boring execution

I like all sci-fi thats why I watched it till the end hoping they would actually do something interesting with its premise. But nope.

This show is not about about space and other planets. Its about old couple who is being old and sad. And they found portal to another planet where they get in a room with huge glass and with good view. And thats it.

Episodes after episodes they just go around and talk about their feelings and being sad that they are so old. And then there are flashbacks to their sad son. And writers try to get suspense and some plot going by having side-story about some mother and teen daughter. And its even more boring.

The plot should have been around going to that planet and exploring it. As promised from premise. Instead with have 8 episodes on earth with boring people talking about their feelings all the time.

I did enjoy it, but I was so curious about that planet. I wanted to see it! How could you sit there for 20 years and not go out there? It just doesn't seem likely.

That was so stupid. Not only that but very irresponsible.

Whole premise of sci-finess of the show was that there is a planet. And instead of going there - show spend whole season showing extremely boring people being sad about being old. And then they show how people finally went on the planet for few minutes in the final episode and then went for a year long brake.

Nope, I will not return. Because cheating shows like this never become better. Next season will be the same - they will pretend things will be on that planet more in the trailers. Then you will turn on to see 50 minutes of boring life on earth and their non-promlems only them to tease that something interesting will happened in the next episode. Every freaking episode this season was like that. I was about to give up but they are teasing something interesting so I watch next episode and nothing happens again.

And it was so irresponsible for them not to tell anyone. They could die any second and no one would know such groundbreaking thing exists.

They could have played with it selfishly for few months. But then had to do something. It didnt have to be government. They could have bring 10 reporters without telling what its for and let them shoot and report it. Then government cant hide it. They should have bring famous scientists too. No shady government could silence it then because everyone would know.

But they just selfishly sit there and do nothing. Even when they got old and about to die. They were planning to take it to the grave.

I'm halfway through the season and my biggest criticism is the dumb decisions some of the characters make. For example why did Frank reveal the true nature of the portal to his nosey neighbor of all people?

He didn't really care about the portal anymore. He was mostly done with it anyway, and then the fact that Irene was going to off herself in it meant he REALLY didn't care about other planets/teleporting/etc.
