So is it at all connected to 2013?
For those who have been lucky enough to see it already (I'm going to an early screening at a Drafthouse tomorrow) is it worth refreshing on the 2013 Evil Dead before going in?

shareNo it’s not necessary! Did you like it?
shareI liked it okay! I'd give it like a 6/10. I was glad to see a little bit of the wacky Evil Dead humor in there. But overall, the 2013 remake is wayyyy better!
shareI agree 2013 is a better film, however I liked 2023 as well. I’m surprised it’s not doing more Business!
shareEvil Dead Rise is a complete reboot of the series----what's unique about it are the fact that both the heroes and the villains are mainly female--with a couple of helpful and they all learn to kick these demons' asses throughout the film, which is what makes it fun. It's way too damn gory and gross, which is why I just didn't look at certain scenes most of the time. It does have a satisfying ending, though. I do like the first three original films better though, and I didn't think the 2013 Evil Dead was all that great, except for Jane Levy's really good performance in it.
shareNot at all necessary. I think you'll have no problem following it even if you've never seen an Evil Dead movie before. It's a pretty simple story that depends on a pretty well known horror movie trope. Someone stumbles on evil book. Makes the mistake of reading from the book. All hell breaks loose.

When will they learn? 😂
