Hey, urban_prince
UNSUNG has never featured any black "rock" acts on the show. For the most part, the focus has been on r&b and hip-hop stars with a little disco, house and go-go music thrown in. I think they were going for highlighting beloved artists we grew up on and stars that reached the top or had some tragedy befall them that kept them from reaching the top.
It would be cool if they did an episode on Fishbone and Living Colour. Maybe they could do an entire episode about black rock acts. After all, people like Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Dominoe, Ernie Isley and Jimi Hendrix definitely paved the way for these newer acts.

I wouldn't mind if they profiled Tracy Chapman, or Joan Armatrading but I don't think they'd be up for it.
I agree with you 100%! I think its important for black people to see, and be made aware of, and celebrate black artists outside of R&B and hip-hop.
shareI totally agree
