Jon B

I really enjoyed his feature tonight. He's truly talented, having come from a musical family and it was refreshing to see his parents speaking in such a supportive way of his career, especially with him being in the business he chose and having to show and prove himself to the haters/critics.

I always thought he sounded so much like Babyface in the early days. On "Someone to Love" it's hard telling the two apart, but much respect to Babyface for putting JB on the map. Like he said - What an incredible way to debut; having "Face" DUET with you on your record.

Cool Relax was the joint though. His voice got more soulful and the smash "They Don't Know" truly sealed his R & B status. Not to mention the collaboration with Tupac. He put out some great uptempo tracks as well.

Very unfortunate about the studio fire. I wonder if that was done purposely. People seemed to hate on JB. At any rate, he was definitely a pioneer in the "blue-eyed soul " game, and like the Ivory Queen of Soul aka Teena Marie, Jon B had true soul and wanted no parts in crossing over for pop success. He's an honorary brotha. Lol. I never would put him in the same category as Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke. Jon B was truly down, from his singing style and swagger to the women he had in his life.

Heck yeah, UNSUNG. You did the dang thing tonight. 

I need a Jon B. in my life. He has that "cool relax", down-to-earth vibe about him, seems fun, marriage minded and doesn't have kids and baby mamas scattered all over the place (like some of the other R&B singers they profiled). Definitely one the better episodes I've seen this past year. I wouldn't compare him to Thicke and Timberlake either, Buck seems more true to his roots and like Teena Marie, wasn't trying to become a watered-down pop star. His wife seems down-to-earth, too.

Yes to everything you just said, Smokybrowneyes . He definitely seems sweet and easy going. "Cool Relax" fits him well. 😎

I love his love for us too.
