Unrealistic thing at the end, totally contrived

*** SPOILERS ***

One thing at the end I don't understand. How did that screw come suddenly loose like that for no reason? If the screws came off of ski lift poles that easily, then skiiers would be dying every year from ski lifts. Duh.

And even if it did, how did it slowly break the cables? The cables are not that easy to break.

That part was totally contrived because Parker had no other way to survive it.

Btw, how could the first guy break his legs like that with bones sticking out and not screaming constantly? There was no way he could have talked calmly after that.

To the last part about the screaming.. There is something in the body (endorphins I think) that when you are in great pain, will actually make the pain go away, so that you can't feel it. I suppose this is what happened, and also it is freezing, maybe his legs "died" or something..
The part I don't get is, that if you are in great pain, I've heard you can pass out from the pain, so that you don't die from it. I suppose he would pass out before he couldn't feel his legs "that much"...
Idk, just a guess.. :-)

I loved this movie, but the ending didn't live up to the rest, because it was a deus ex machina moment that was totally out of nowhere... Basically, with both guys dead, Parker had no other way to survive than to be rescued by some happenstance, and that's basically what they did.

I think doesn't the guy who jumped say when he is on the floor he can't feel his legs. So that is why he couldn't feel the pain maybe

Pure you give too much credit to people maintaining things perfectly and ignore the reality of the situations. These things break.

I kept going through the boards trying to find someone else who thought "deus ex machina." Thank you :)

When the cable broke, but then caught when it was close enough to the ground to jump, yuck. A lot of people are complaining that the movie was unrealistic, but I was doing ok until that. That's when the movie lost me.

The thing has been going all day (and years before that) with large groups of people on multiple, possibly every chair. That one chair is no exception. Then when there is only one very small girl, that is the weight that pulls it apart?????

It wasn't really a deus ex machina. Had Batman shown up and saved her it would have been, but not this instance.
