Possibly a stupid question: why didn't the girl zip up the top part of her jacket. Was is because she thought it would mess up her hair? I know it's just a movie, but come on.

That might have been a part where you have to suspend your disbelief I guess. Maybe for the dialogue to come out clear, or it looked bad on camera, or so it would be easier to breathe for either the character, actress or both.
