why does the pretty young woman always survive
No matter how tough things get in these cheap thriller/horror type movies, the men always get shredded up and somehow the woman survives. Why?

SPOILER ALERT: You'd like Wolf Creek (it's the name of a movie). There were 2 girls and a guy that a crazy guy had tied up. The 2 girls each died very brutally, but the one guy lived. You'd love it!
shareI wonder if sometimes the director's create less-than-likeable female characters and still let them live...just to make a sort of "life ain't fair" comment. It makes me think of Jessica Biel in one of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies...she was, for the most part, useless and got several of her friends killed with her stupid choices--and yet she is the lone survivor...tres etrange!
shareUmm..I don't recall Biel getting her friends killed....

-Makes them stop to pick up hitchhiker who kills herself
-Refuses to let them dump body of insane lady who killed herself when things look wrong and sheriff is nowhere to be found
-One of friends is missing, human teeth found, sheriff is a nutball, and the hitchhiker who killed herself was from the area. Forces friends to stay against there will
-Abandons Andy when he's fighting with Leatherface
-Does nothing but sit and scream when Leatherface drops his chainsaw while fighting Morgan rather than recover chainsaw and help friend. Friend gets chainsaw-castration

It always pisses me off the the women survive in the movies. Like women could actually use their brain at time like that. Right.
"Shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you!!!"
It's a ritual for the giant evil gods.
shareIt was beyond stupid. She should have been eaten first. What BS.
sharealso..why almost every horror movies feature a woman as a protagonist, let alone they are the one only one who survives..
Horror films are the most cliched film genres.
Frozen-7/10
Because most mainstream movies are afraid to break from tradition and therefore resort to using cliches. A common cliche is a female heroine or lone female survivor. At least the characters in Frozen were somewhat likeable. Unlike slasher films where it's a group of generic morons with absolutely zero personality or charisma, in which case you want them all to die.
shareSpeak for yourself. I hated Parker and wanted her to die for the whole movie. The actress is great, but the character? Let her freeze, let her freeze...
