Other Movies Like This?

Some of the acting was a little silly, but overall I thought this movie was great. What other horror/survival movies do you recommend? Thanks

There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.

I know this isn't answering your question but maybe someone can help both of us.

There's a movie where a nerdy college dude is going to drive home for Xmas break and a girl he knows only because he thinks she's pretty asks for a ride because her house is on his way home. Anyway, they get stuck on a deserted road and someone starts beating on their car window. Turns out they are victims of a gruesome car accident from decades ago. Somehow a cop from the same time period also was tied into it.

I enjoyed the movie and I remember finding it as a suggestion after I watched Frozen.

That sounds like 'Windchill' with Emily Blunt

That was it. Thanks!!

Buried is kind of like this. A guy in a clostriphobic situation in a thriller/drama movie.

I have to ask you if that was "Premature Burial (1962)" with Ray Milland, where he had a crypt built with things to help him get out. But when it did actually come true (due to a girlfriend/wife) everything was old and spoiled, the food had turned to maggots, the poisoned wine he had put in case he wanted to end it was dried up and the poison no longer effective. He was just stuck. I honestly can't remember whether he ever got out or not.

Premature Burial was the very first scary movie I ever saw (I am old - 65) and for 1962 this was a scary movie. The grave digger was whistling this scary tune and I dreamed about it that night. My mom said oh that was just the paper boy whistling as he was delivering the papers and that he was whistling China Town. LOL

I bought this movie a couple years ago so I could show my grown kids - I had talked about this movie all their lives so it must have had a great impact on me. They liked it but were like, "come on Mom this isn't that scary." Well it is if you yourself are claustrophobic, which I am.

But for my time, the absolute scariest movie I ever saw was Psycho (the original). Sure there are movies now that are probably just as scary or scarier, but when you are younger and see really scary movies like Psycho and Premature Burial they stay with you.

The Edge

reply

I like The Grey much more than most people I'd wager. The Edge is great too.

Wolf Creek
Rogue 2007 - Michale Vartan - I've never heard anyone mention this film; don't know why
The Host 2006
Trollhunter
Descent
Strangers - Scott Speedman
Inside 2007
Horseman 2008

Cold Prey 1
Cold Prey 2

Fun/Comedy/Horror:
Dead Snow 1 - LOVE these 2 movies!
Dead Snow 2
Housebound 2014
Clown 2014
Feast 2005 - don't bother with sequels
Black Sheep 2006
Wyrmwood

I know that this thread is not recent, but I felt as though I MUST suggest a certain film that I believe as closely as possible, evokes an extremely similar emotion that I strongly felt when watching 2010's, "Frozen".

Its a fairly recent release titled, "Backcountry", 2014.. These two movies affected me greatly, and long after their end credits rolled. Both, I believe, were decent films in and of themselves.. and both, contain extremely disturbing content that sticks with you for quite some time.

That's all I'll really say, but, "if" you are one who is seeking out a film with similarities to 2010's, "Frozen", then I can guarantee you that 2014's, "Backcountry" is the movie you're looking for!
