Just got back from a screening
It's not very good. It's pretty much the typical kind of throwaway film you'd see released in mid-late August. It actually starts decently enough, but after the lion attacks it gets pretty boring quickly and loses a lot of tension. The CGI on the lion is rough looking and the two daughters were pretty annoying. It takes too many influences from other animal/creature features, but doesn't do anything to make them feel fresh or unique. Idris Elba was really the only redeeming factor about it. I wouldn't recommend seeing it in a theater. Needed a better script. This is the kind of film that belongs on Peacock rather than in theaters.
