Because I love Black Water I knew going into this that I would like this movie and I wasn't wrong. If you want to watch a tense realistic Shark or fish movie then watch this and not Piranha 3D or any of the other syfy killer fish garbage.
I agree with OP, The Reef is intense and the acting is very believable. I'm glad it wasn't another slapstick gorefest aimed at teens.
Sometimes the simplest ideas and settings prove that you don't need a huge budget and intricate plot-lines to end up with something well worth watching. In that sense, this movie reminds me of The Man From Earth.
totally agree, this movie was complete crap. some moron rates it a 9 and gets his review on the home page. He SERIOUSLY said.. 'in some ways, its better than jaws'
Well done for spoiling this movie for others who haven't seen this yet. Also the comments made about this being crap as well are so off the mark. This movie for me was absolutely terrifying. I have seen hundreds of scary movies and this is the only one that made me feel sick with tension and fear. It is a hard watch and I would advise anyone with a phobia of open water and sharks to stay well clear. Horrific stuff.
As long as were giving somebody a hard time about spoiling everything, how do you put on the alert? I dont think I have ever spoiled, but im a bit handicaped not knowing how to do this, and therefor can not write surtain things.
I realy liked this movie, is it the young generation, born 1990+ who does not know how to apprichiate small budget, and smart solutions? my cousin, whos 17 refuses to wach anything pre 2000 due to what he considers bad due to the special effects not beeing up to par, and what others critesize about this movie I wish to salute, briliant work, keeping the essentials in a low budget film without selling out to even cheaper and anoying tricks to get point across.
I really liked the way the this film delivers the tension and fear in a very real and understated way. The way it is shot you feel you are in the water with them. Extremely well executed film.
Funnily enough I have a phobia of great white sharks and even a picture would usually terrify me but I found the characters reactions in this movie so cliche and silly that it just didn't bother me as much.
The images of the shark did bother me but i'm just glad they didn't have any proper wide mouth shots of the shark. That would've been far too much for me to take.
I realise its a long time since you posted this but I notice nobody has answered your question (bizarrely).
Puting on a spoiler alert couldnt be easier. just write -----SPOILER----- in big capital letters before whatever you are going to write! There might be a more techy wayt of doing it, but this always works for me.
