the ONE small but very ridiculous thing I felt was pretty stupid SPOILER

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

So they're on the home stretch about 50 feet from getting to the piece of land and then right after the girl gets killed the lead guy decides its a good idea to risk his life and try and go for the paddle that was floating away. After being fine swimming without one for however many miles he decides to go for it when they've pretty much made it to the island. It didnt ruin the film for me or anything I just thought it was really stupid I mean that paddle wasnt going to make ANY difference in last little piece they had left to swim I didnt see the point for that to be in the film.

yeah i thought that was really contrived and unnecessary. Luke had been the rational one and had kept his head through the whole film and he suddenly does something that stupid? now if Kate had done that i think it would be a bit more believable because she had been shown to panic and get properly scared a few times. or maybe if they had built up something that showed Luke slowly getting more panicky it might have been believable

I'm so tired of the lead male sacrificing himself for the lead female. This is like the 380,321st movie to have just the lead girl survive. "Shocker." but at least all of the stupid test audience people could sleep at night knowing the main girl made it.

This is based on a real survivor. The difference was it was a male who survived. So I think that they made a crappy decision to switch that and stray from the original story for Hollywood drama effect. But when you love someone..and if it is a choice between you or him/her..you instinctively choose yourself. That's love. That's probably why you see a lot of that in movies.

I'm not sure who was better off... would I rather be eaten by a shark, or slowly starve/die of thirst on the island hoping I'd be rescued? Up until she was rescued... she wouldn't have known she would be rescued, so it would just be waiting and hoping.

I think he went after the blue board to see if the shark would attack him or was he (the shark) still deep enough eating the other girl...I could be totally wrong but that is the only logical reason I can think of...and if he did get attacked the girl remaining would "hopefully" swim her a** off to the little island while he was being eaten. I don't know hahaha

there was nothing ridiculous about THIS BIT.

what are you going to do when you get to the island? Just starve to death. It was likely that after a night or two's recooperation they might have to set of again, and if that was the case, then you'd want that float with you.

..now when the first guy goes off for the float on the other hand...
