What would YOU do??

Swim or stay on the boat? I would have stayed on the boat, especially after the fisherman said there is no way he would get in the water because he knows what in there and his comment about putting on a wetsuit makes you look like a seal. So true!
Why didn't they try to find supplies still in the boat to perhaps fix it? At least there was some food and tools in there.
What happened to the little raft? Maybe they could of patched it, but then again it's not much protection from the huge shark. Perhaps there were weapons or a harpoon they could of taken with them. It had a motor on it so it would of been alot faster then trying to swim for it.
They should have tried to swim faster when they first started swimming. They were just treading water than really swimming. They could have swam fast until they tired and then rest and tread water before swimming again.
Luke was wrong, Turtle Island was no where to be seen, just some small reefs.
I definately would have stayed put on that upturned boat!
How about you? What would do?

Considering you know what happens at the end of the movie, suppose you didn't know the outcome? Would you still swim or stay?

Such a tough question. But, knowing myself and my crippling fear of sharks...I would have stayed on the boat. However, in a situation where EVERYBODY gets in to the water, I think I would go with them.

same i have a big fear of sharks, id like to say id stay on the boat but i think i might of swam for it with the others.
when the boat eventually sank you would have to swim anyway, so i guess its better to start closer to the island then further away

I'd of got some knives from underneath with the spam and water and swam for it with floats. Maybe bring a lot of knives.

Funny, I was hoping they had brought at least one knife. I would like to have at least stabbed the shark a few times as it was eating me, just like Quint.

I'd definitely stay on the boat. The current couldn't have been very strong if they could swim against it.

Aren't all sail boats unsinkable now, even with a hole in the hull? And also, don't they come with a huge fresh water tank for cooking and drinking? Any sailors around? Why weren't there any life jackets onboard? Isn't that the most basic accessory to a boat?

If the raft was salvageable I'd use that. Just a little duct tape would've done the trick.

But if I had to go into the water I'd bring a weapon of some kind. There must've been kitchen knives at least.

Besides just cry . Pray for a huge group of dolphins to show up and kick shark tail fins lol . Seriously that was needed in this movie a dolphin or two to help along the way to safety ( total wishful thinking on my part here of course ) . Thanks roses888 for this excellent subject post .

As mentioned above, would have stayed on the boat UNLESS everyone else was going in the water.
