Why were sharks these idiots' no. 1 concern?

What about box jellyfish? One touch and you're *beep* Also why did everybody always go along with Luke? Since when was that a good idea? Every time he says "I say we swim for it" somebody gets eaten. Was his optimism and confidence really so infectious? "Enjoy yourselves. This is a once in a lifetime." No *beep*. Why didn't anybody take a look around for knives or something else to defend themselves with before they left for their swim?

Yeh let's see that movie about killer jellyfish. Could call it wobble.

Since it's revealed that Warren and the yacht were never found, Luke's idea to swim for it is pretty much vindicated.
A shark showing up was pure bad luck, despite Warren alluding to it when he refuses to get in the water.
That said the lack of safety equipment pretty much doomed them. No flares, no life jackets, no inflatable life raft, nothing.

Anyone would think they'd never seen the USS Indiana scene in Jaws...

Exactly. was going to say the same thing. with the boat sinking gradually, and they had no food and water supply, swimming for it was the better choice. Bad luck that they encountered shark(s) (of course there would be no movie if there wasn't. lol)

anyway, as the epilogue said in not so many words, warren may have changed his mind as the boat finally sank or he was starving to death but it's too late for him as the current swept him further into the sea.

reply

Yeah, the scene with the splashing all around Warren on the capsized boat probably kept him from swimming for it while he still had a chance.
