... go see The Social Network, or Inception or something.
Seriously, I'm still not convinced this movie isn't a troll of some type. Who made this? The goons at Something Awful? This movie is such a fail at everything that it can't be anything other than a put-on. A forced attempt to make this a midnight showing type of movie.
I didn't think anything could be worse than The Room, that should be the low bar in ineptitude. But you know something like that could only be made by a talentless, possibly drug-addled weirdo. To make something worse seems like you're really trying to do so. Stuff like the applause scene is a dead giveaway, I never laughed harder in my life.
For you to call Inception "pretentious" suggests to me that you -perhaps- don't know exactly what the word "pretentious" means...
Inception was a wonderful movie which, despite its flaws, was engaging, visually stunning and compelling from beginning to end. It's a movie which requires one to listen to what's being said, instead of just watching. At no point in my repeated viewings of Inception, could I find amy (accurate) justification for a person to label it as "pretentios"...
Now, back on topic: I read the prominent review on Birdemic's IMDB page, and was almost suckered in enough to watch it. The reviewer made it sound like an uderrated gem of a film, which needed to be watched!!! This, of course, gave me pause. I mean, the title alone was enough to give me pause... So i watched the trailers available. I have since concluded that there must have been some sort of competition on the forums, or some sort of dare or somesuch... Perhaps the deal was that someone was supposed to write exactly the opposite of everything they thought and felt from watching this "film"? Perhaps the idea was to write something so appealing, that they would trick as many people into watching the "film" as possible, so that there would be a much wider array of people who would share the misery of having been unfortunate enough to have endured watching Birdemic?
Who knows... I can only say that I have been scared away by the trailers I've seen and no type of review could make me watch something like this! I would like to ask "Why," though. Why have some people given this movie good reviews? Would be very interested to know.
I don't know if you quite understand the point of 'Birdemic''s popularity...it's a film that falls within the spectrum of "so-bad-it's-good" entertainment: there's neither depth nor drama nor substance to be found, only the enjoyment of watching sheer cinematic incompetence unfold onscreen. That's why everyone's raving about it, it's perhaps the "best worst movie" to come out since 'The Room' or 'After Last Season'. If you're not familiar either flick, you're probably not within 'Birdemic''s core demographic, though considering you're the sort of person who adamantly defends billion-dollar Hollywood fluff like 'Inception', you're DEFINITELY not within 'Birdemic''s demographic. :)
birdemic is meant to be seen with an audience, with lots of people screaming comments and jeers and plenty of laughs. yes it is bad, but the beauty of it is because it's so cheesy and hilarious in the way it's so bad that it's great. birdemic is very satirical and has that unique humor that through it's language and crappy effects. it's a movie that is meant to be funny and humorous. birdemic isn't meant to be a "big hit" or an Oscar movie like Inception, it's a niche movie and a bit of a cult flick. you might want to give it a try and see it for yourself, you might like it. one should be careful about basing movies on previews and reviews, have you ever saw great previews and reviews of a movie and the movie wasn't good or poor reviews/previews and you actually liked the film?
