NO WAY!! All he did was record people with a sony handcam, spend some time editing scenes. And then the .gif birds. He couldn't even freakin afford a realistic dead bird during the beach scene!! Now how the hell exactly did he manage to spend 10,000$ on this movie?

My guess is that it all went to gas knowing how much driving was in this movie.

You're probably right. The cost is estimated so he probably spent less and some one just took a stab in the dark with 10,000.
shareDid they rent that Mustang or did it belong to somebody? And the house? Those could've been costly to rent if their uses weren't donated for the film.
sharethe house was his mother's. the director talked about how he bought the van, though the van was in bad shape so much of the money could have went to the van/repairs. the other money went to the actors/actresses, DP, editors, sound recorders, etc. also, perhaps he paid the owners of the places he filmed at like the gas station to film there.
