Why did the devil kill the elevator engineer and the old security guard? What did they do wrong? I'm sure the devil could've found other ways to keep his devil's meeting uninterrupted without killing innocent bystanders

shareMy understanding was because they were trying to interfere with the devil's plans. Had they not tried to rescue the people in the elevator, they would not have been killed.
On a side note, Did the old security guard die, or was he on the verge of dying? I can't remember if he actually died or it just showed him bad off and implying he was about to.
I think their deaths were merely accidental. The Devil had no hand in their demise. If the Devil meant to kill all those who interfered with his plans all the fire rescue people would have died also.

Those deaths didn't make any sense to me either. The story was really good with the people in the elevator.
