Cohen noticeably stays away from what would be genuinely edgy material like, say, sucker punching and humiliating Hasidic Jews for their laughably backwards and leeching existences. Study the Torah all day, have somebody else pay your rent and do your fighting for you. Yep, I'd say they'd make prime material, but for some reason they appear to be off limits. Why is that, I wonder....

Woody Allen (who is a Jew too) belongs to the first type. Sacha Baron Cohen, to the second one. It's the same difference between Conan O'Brian (first type) and Stephen Colbert (second type).
And to be honest, I'm not sure the term 'comedian' should really apply to that second type.
