Okay, I HAVE to ask....

what happened with V?

I remember when it originally came on, critics loved it. I personally didn't watch the original series and only watched 1 or 2 episodes of this, so I didn't really get into it.

However, people hailed how this was the only "respectable" remake and how it would be the successor to "Lost", which is what ABC wanted/needed. Taking all the commotion into consideration, V should have lasted YEARS. The audience loved it. What changed? It certainly did not live up to its hoopla. Any reasons?

It's true that the V pilot scored favourable reviews and premiered to great ratings, but the reviews quickly became negative and the ratings took a steep drop with subsequent installments. There were some behind the scenes struggles going on very early into the show's run, which lead to the firing of the original showrunners Scott Peters and Jeffrey Bell. They were replaced with Scott Rosenbaum, which leads me straight to the IMO main reason why the V remake failed: The writing. The V apologists like to blame the 'stupidity' and 'ADD' of the US television audience for the show's cancellation, but really, V was one of if not the most stupid sci-fi show I ever watched. It actually required the viewer to shut their brains off when watching because otherwise all the leaps in logic, plotholes and general stupidity would take you out of the story.

Ironic.

The 2009 pilot was so hackneyed and rabidly-paced (rabid/rapid/whatever) that I thought that its writers had ADD, or preferred the audience would all be riddled with it...

the show is terrible. I am 14 episodes into the show and can hardly bring myself to keep watching.

The reason that this show didn't last is because of the fact that the average TV viewer doesn't like anything that isn't "reality TV" or a crime show drama.

Shows like this never live long on a major network. They would have been better putting it on SyFy and not worring about big ratings and luring in top advertisers. It's the type of show that draws a special kind of audience and had the network been smart, they would have moved it to a network that had a special kind of viewership.

Personally, I thought Lost sucked it royally and never watched that show.
