Had I missed this on television when it originally aired, I would not even bother with it now. Why? because it gets canceled with no real ending. I despise investing my time in a show that just leaves you hanging, a reason why the networks have pretty much lost me as a viewer. I liked this new take on V pretty well. It wasn't perfect by any means, was too rushed and crammed with plot (typical of today's style of TV shows?), and had some abysmal use of CGI sets at times. Yet still, it had some interesting plot developments and Morena Baccarin was excellent in every scene she was in. She really owned the show. I watched it as it aired and had to suffer through the hiatuses and such. It ended like so many other shows, with my invested time being wasted on a plot that goes nowhere due to cancellation.
Another show I really liked on ABC was Invasion back in 2006. It got unceremoniously cancelled as well. As much as I loved it, I never even bothered to buy the stupid DVD set. Why should I? It has no ending and ultimately goes nowhere because of the cancellation. If they'd put forth some sort of effort to wrap this stuff up for people who stayed with their shows, I'd be more inclined to watch more programming and also to buy the DVDs. But since they don't give a damned about the viewer, I vote with my dollars by NOT buying their product. These networks would actually do better if they'd treat their viewers with a little more respect than to just cancel shows and not bother wrapping them up. Without an ending, who gives a damned about ever buying the DVD? Not me.

I am very picky on new shows I watch.... Just for your very reason you mentioned. Sometimes it backfires.... Lol I never watched Smallville because I didn't want to invest my time in it just being cancelled so I thought when season 1 started... Lol lol then by season 7 I had to get caught up.
It seems like Fox & WB and other smaller networks do their best to end series the right wAy... Unlike ABC, NBC or CBS.
Oh I agree. The major networks are the real scum, I think. They could care less about the fans and thus give me zero reason to bother with their shows any more, even if it is something I think looks good. It's infuriating to just have something you've spent time with ripped away from you without a care.

I honestly avoided this show when it was on the air. I think I owned the original mini-series on DVD at that point, but I felt this reboot looked too talkie and was less about action. And there was nothing that really grabbed my attention. The only thing I remembered about this show until recently was that Kara/Supergirl from SMALLVILLE was in it.
I got Season 1 on Blu-Ray for $20 as well. I love the original V shows, and decided to check this one out. I am aware it has no real ending, but neither did the old V really. I'm gonna start Season 2 hopefully tonight.
I do enjoy that Season two used Jane Badler from the original V, as well as another major star from the original. I felt that the series was developing rather nicely, though Season 2 is more action oriented as more seems to be happening. I did enjoy the series overall, even if it did have some issues here and there as far as the writing, but I will never revisit it again since it got unceremoniously canceled. I hope you both enjoy your season 2 viewing!

V got worse and worse with every entry back in the day. The original mini-series is the only one that truly stands the test of time as a quality product (though loving it for nostalgia is understandable). It was the setup for a great deal more, but then it all went downhill as the network catered to the kiddie audience rather than any adults. By the time the series was canceled, no one really cared because it had gotten so silly. Over half the cast had left by that point!
