Tyler hate?

All right, I don't consistently watch the show, and I've never seen even a full episode, just bits and pieces but I'm so confused as to why Tyler is so hated. As I said, I haven't seen nearly enough of the show (I guess if I did then I would know why) but what all I have seen, the kid seems fine, I've never had a problem with him.

Why is it he is known as being such an awful character? Or rather was, seeing as how he is definitely dead.

He's one of those types of character that for some reason or another gathers a huge amount of bandwagon jumpers. You know, the kind that stand there and see a crowd forming, then they decide to see what it's about. And then join in so as to be a part of something. I didn't like the character. But the hate towards him from a lot of people is humourous at times to see. I do realise that some will have valid reason for disliking him. But most don't. Everyone here, at one point in time, has gone to a board and dissed someone or something for what they think is the right reason. But in fact is nothing more than because a small group of haters have kicked up enough fuss for you to notice and join in for the sake of it. Tyler aka Cryler is just that situation repeating it's self. There is only one person in the show that deserves every bit of hate available and that's Tyler's mother Eric(a) "He-Man" Evans all because of her really annoying as hell attitude and antics. SHE ruined the show. SHE was the death of V.

"I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire. I'd stoke her up. Burn!, bitch!, burn!."

Completely agree with this. Tyler was just a teenager trying to find his way with an over protective obsessive mother - he could be excused. Erica on the other hand could not. Yet strangely everyone seemed to worship the ground she walked on and hated Tyler. I think it was something to do with the actress. I'd never seen her in anything else, so my view of the character wasn't clouded by stanning for the actress.

There is a lot of hatred for Erica as well. Maybe just not on these boards.

As for Tyler, he just annoyed me. So did Erica for that matter. At first she annoying when it came to Tyler stuff, like not telling him the truth about the V's, even when she'd likely have Lisa backing her up. However, she proved to be annoying on her own.

Truthfully, I found a lot of characters to be annoying by the end. As much as I tried to like Ryan, in the end, I was happy to see him die. However, I think the actors did a good job with what they were given.

I absolutely love the character Tyler, and Logan Huffman is a great actor too. I really like Erica as well. I was a fan of Elisabeth Mitchell from her work on Lost. Those two really make V great!

it was the writer's fault. they needed to have some sort of mystery or suspense sp they made it so that "tyler can't know about the vs" , when he very easily could have and then made part of the plan.

instead, he is kept in the dark and his character is made to do stupid things because of that.

i see logically where it comes from, but i hate him too. he was either being an ass to his mom or crying the whole time, and it got annoying.

I hated Tyler. I actually screamed "Hell yeah" when Lisa 2.0 went to town on him. In all fairness to the character I hated the whole Erica/Tyler dynamic. Tyler didn't seem to be an exceptionally bright kid and Erica's behavior towards him made him seem unbearably dumb.

The Erica/Tyler storyline kind of reminded me of "Dracula". In that novel you had four men trying to protect Lucy and not one of them told her she was in danger. In this they had evil aliens and Erica couldn't be bothered to warn her son. My mom wouldn't let me have a minibike and she made me wear a helmet when I drove my go kart which was only a 2 1/2 hp engine. Mom would have tied me to the bed to keep me away from evil aliens.

I liked Tyler. OF all the deaths on that show, his was the most tragic and sad

I found Tyler annoying, and I'm actually glad he was killed. Or wounded. Depends on what would've happened in Season 3. He came off like too eager to join the Vs, and let his feelings for Lisa control him even after he learns the truth about her and the Vs, and he goes so far as to abandon his mother so many times. He's just the kind of guy I want to smack upside the head.

+1

It's been a few years since I watched the show.

Tyler fit the stupid impulsive teenager trope. He also seemed analogous to the character Daniel Bernstein from the Original Series.

At a convention, I remember speaking to Laura Vandervoort about why her character Lisa liked Tyler. Tyler does genuinely care/love Lisa. Does he have any other redeeming virtues? (Does he need any others?)

Hear, hear!

My only regret is that the alien didn't tell him how much he deserved to suffer before chomping on him.
