Near the end of the movie they say that the meteor will arrive a week early.
Pretty much means it's going to miss us. How the hell does the meteor still hit us?

the meteor had a trajectory change obviously. still going to hit the earth but maybe coming a bit faster and from a new angle.

I think you are on the track though I have a slightly different view.
- The TV news program instantly adjusted to the week earlier arrival of the meteor.
The TV staff, were all prepared to discontinue broadcasting because they quickly shut down the cable system.
This leads me to believe that the TV staff always knew that the meteor was coming early.
And of course it makes sense that the government would be behind the incorrect later date with the probable reason to reduce rioting.
No plot hole imo.

That's not a plothole. We never actually seen the meteor hit, but even if it did... government conspiracy?
shareIf the film had been about Dodge being a scientist who was tracking the meteor, I'd agree that it would be a huge plot hole. No one with any type of science background who made it a priority to figure out the impact time could misjudge a 75 mile meteor's impact time by a full week... that's nonsense.
The fact that Dodge was an insurance salesman who didn't really seem all that concerned about the "when", who spent about 8 minutes of those last 2 weeks watching the news via mainstream networks? I can buy it. Especially if you noticed those news scenes. It seemed they were operating with skeleton crews and most likely getting their information straight for the government as the rest of the set looked entirely empty.
Not really a plot hole at all.
As others have said, it's completely possible that if Dodge went on Google and looked up "meteor impact time", he would have went down the rabbit hole and realized that it was going to hit a week earlier than the mainstream sites were being told to report. He didn't really bother to look for the details, so it's plausible enough that the government had intentionally lied in order to attempt to prevent further anarchy.
Wow, swoosh... right over your head, you missed the joke entirely. "The meteor is going to hit the earth a week early and oh, by the way, it is daylight savings time so don't forget to set your clocks an hour early." That was one of the great lines in the movie, just so damn funny. Try enjoying a movie more than nitpicking it to death and you will probably enjoy life a lot more.
