i've just seen that there is a blu-ray of the christmas special coming out in October.
wasn't this included as a special feature on series 2 already (the answer is yes)
what gives? are they trying to trick people into spending more money? (i say "trick" because any actual fan would know that they already have this on their series 2 dvd)

I assume you mean the Halloween Special? The version that was put on the Series 2 extras disc was actually the US edited version of it that had the Mr Lomax story removed to make it shorter. It was supposedly an error by the BBC so they released the full length version seperately for Halloween this year, only on DVD though, with a few new extras and audio commentary that wasn't on the Series 2 disc.
Unless it was all a trick to fleece us fans out of our hard earned money?!
