Halloween episode question...

For whatever reason, ABC TV here in Australia didn't show this episode here...had to find it online. Just curious about how it's supposed to fit in with the regular series...the Dawn French character butchers her husband in the Halloween special yet he reappears for the second series as if nothing has happened...is it meant to be like one of those Simpson's Treehouse of horror episodes? I.e. it didn't 'really' happen?

Yeah, pretty much like the Treehouse of Horror episodes. Only the bookend sections with the TV guys are in the Psychoville universe, the rest are just stories that happen to feature the regular characters.

Aside from the other user's answer, you must realise that all the tales were pretty much fabrication from within the Psychoville universe, and that particular tale was "a story you must have heard from a friend," because, as the main character tells the cameraman, this story couldn't have happened.

You did find the whole thing, right? Because the version on the DVD was pulled from the BBCA broadcast, which was cut down to 45 minutes.
