he had some kind of thing for eyes - keeping them in jars, having them as a snack, taking eyes from folks...

is the theater just an opportunistic setting for him, or is there something about movies that motivated him?

what is this guy's deal?

There is no specific reason why he was doing that. We only know that he was a murderer and was on the loose.
