Dreamworks = Pixar ...who would have believed it?

If they stay on the same course they've set with KFP2 (not to mention KFP1 and How to Train Your Dragon) they're going to give Pixar some stiff competition. How refreshing to see animation finally breaking out of the "cutesy dumbed-down singalong for kids" box that it's been kept in for... ever, actually. Can't wait to see what's next on the horizon!

Eh. Probably Shrek 5.

A trailer for their new movie "Madagascar 3" has just been released... watch it and you'll see, sadly they won't stay on the same course. It will take some time until another movie of them can be called a masterpiece.

Btw, Tangled is Disney, not Dreamworks.

reply

Well, at least we can say that it stays true to the original.

Apart from that I am not surprised that they did not change the tone of the movie. Madagascar is just a simple cartoon/comedy and if they would come up with something else I guess it would confuse the audience.

That's just weak songwriting. You wrote a bad song, Petey.

But what about AFTER Madagascar 3?

"Simba, you have forgotten me"
"No, I am your father"
"NOO, THIS IS PATRICK"
"Do'h"

I think the next thing after it is Rise of the Guardians, which at first glance, I think, looks like total crap. But it's starring Hugh Jackman, and producing it is Guillermo del Toro, who are both fantastic, and give me a feeling the movie could be pretty BA. The director was head of story for Monsters vs. Aiens. So.... so far it doesn't look too bad. We'll see.

Then there's the Croods, directed by Cris Sanders from HTTYD :)

Yup, here's a new article all about Rise of the Guardians, and it looks like it will be pretty good.

I still think Pixar stomp overall however in the past few years its not been a huge gap. Though WALL E was a better made film than Kung Fu Panda i cant help but prefered Kung Fu Panda.

How to Train Your Dragon was around Pixars level and this years Kunf Fu Panda 2 was better than Cars 2.

Tangled was Disney. But otherwise, I agree.
