Will it win 'Best Animated Feature' at the oscars?

It will definitely be nominated, but I have neither seen "Cars 2" nor "Rango". For those of you who did - will "Kung Fu Panda 2" win the oscar for best animated feature? Do you think it has a good chance?

I'd really be happy about that. I can totally see it winning.

From the animated movies I've seen this year so far, I'd nominate:

Kung Fu Panda 2
Rango
Rio

And I'd give the award to Rango

You should see Rango! You're missing something. The story is ... strange? ... but ILM really came, saw and conquered.

Just one example, why I think Rango should win the Oscar:

From the trivia of KFP2

According to the director Jennifer Yuh, Shen proved to be a great challenge to animate, so much that the complexity of the character was like that of doing six characters all at once.

And I've to agree. The animation of the evil peacock in KFP2 was *my* highlight of the movie. It was brilliant.

However, in Rango, *every* character is rendered in much more detail and is better animated (feels like motion capture, but it isn't). And there are a lot of characters in Rango. Really a a lot. There's no scene which is rendered poorly. Everything is done in the same high quality (almost photo realism). The amount of work which went into this movie is insane and just has to be rewarded with an Oscar.

Cars 2 won't win. But that's ok. Sometimes a studio just needs to make cash, and Cars merchandise will be selling real good for many years to come.

Motion capture is basically the same method as rotoscoping where everything comes out animated despite using human actors in motion capture. So IMO yes it does count.

well, so far Rango, Panda, Tintin (if that counts) and maybe arthur Christmas are the highest rated animated films so far this year..

but remember Tangled got screwed over last year :(

Don't forget Winnie Pooh. It also received lots of praise(91% at RT).

That's just weak songwriting. You wrote a bad song, Petey.
