BAFTA Awards - Kung Fu Panda 2 robbed again

So basically, the BAFTA awards just released their longlist today. For most categories, there are 15 that are considered to be officially nominated. I'm actually quite happy with these lists, Alan Rickman is up for best supporting actor for example.

But, once again... *sigh* Kung Fu Panda 2 isn't going to make the cut.

Here are the nominees for best animated film:

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn
Arthur Christmas
Gnomeo and Juliet
Puss in Boots
Rango

So okay, I'm glad they didn't nominate Cars 2. Tintin, Rango, Arthur Christmas? ALL great films. But SERIOUSLY. Gnomeo and Juliet and Puss in Boots over KFP2?

CAN ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THESE ARE SUPERIOR FILMS!!? Sure, Puss in Boots was decent and I liked it, but the script had some serious flaws and it doesn't have near the depht of KFP2. I haven't seen Gnomeo and Juliet - the IMDb rating of 5.9 speaks for itself though. I seriously can't understand it. How is Kung Fu Panda 2 so overlooked this year? If they're going to nominate 3 movies, and they nominate Tintin, Rango and Arthur Christmas - I'm totally okay with that. I don't claim Kung Fu Panda 2 to be better than any of those, I especially loved Rango, too.

But seriously... It begins to annoy me how this wonderful film is continuing to be left out at all those award shows, and I hope I'm not alone with that.

I am also quite surprised that Gnomeo and Juliet received a nomination. I haven't watched the movie but from the trailer and the score on RT and IMDB I don't think that I have missed something great.

When I checked the IMDB-site for Gnomeo and Juliet I saw that the movie was produced in the US and in the UK(although I don't know in how far British companies are involved in this movie). Perhaps the academy is a bit biased towards their own productions (since BAFTA is a british organisation).

That's the only explanation I have got since the movie itself does not seem to be that good.

I also agree with you that Puss in Boots is not as good as KFP2.

That's just weak songwriting. You wrote a bad song, Petey.
