well ithas it's simularities and differences
First thing done is to write the script and generaly block out the action In a form of comic strips called storyboards . Once dialog has bcter een written then the voices are recorded. next 3 things happen at the same time. first Character animation is done, thats the type done for any character on the screen like Tigeress or Po.If a character is an animal or has a special skill(like Kung Fu) an animalor Expert is brought in so the animator can make notes,Drawings and film the Subject as needed. For The Kung Fu Panda films they have used Rodolphe Guenoden as a choreographer and stuntman. aslo Special effects animtion has to be done(ie rain, fire, smoke) and the Backgrounds. remember, everything on the screen has to be drawn,or in the case of CGI films characters like in Kung Fu Panda a basic character is made by computer and animated in the computer. the backgrounds are drwan by hand on a tablet so it goes directly into the computer so the characters special effect and backgrounds are combined to complete the visual part of the film
Now the sound people take it and add the recorded voices, add sound effects(like footsteps) and the Music and now the film is done
Sometimes though during the making of the movie scenes maybe rewritten and rerecorded or even scrapped and new ones added, worse animation may go horribly wrong the first time around. and has to be redone(look at the outtakes from Shrek) all of this is expensive so the director has to be very sure everything is worth doing over to justify the expense.
PS sorry for the Novel
Oh GOOD!,my dog found the chainsaw
