what actors should be nominated?
Pesci I would say.
shareAbsolutely Pesci, I think his is clearly the best performance in the film.
shareDe Niro, Pesci, and Pacino are all brilliant and worthy of nominations, also Stephen Graham and Domenick Lombardozzi were terrific.
All performances were brilliant my only gripe would be that Jesse Plemons, one of the best actors in the film, was terribly underused.
I agree that Pesci was the best but De Niro was better than he has been in decades. It's a rather low-key performance but I think he will make the cut.
Pacino did his usual shouty thing -- I was less impressed with him but suspect that, with the showiest role, he will be the first in line when nominations are handed to the film.
I disagree about Pacino being first in line. He's been doing this act for the past couple of decades and he hasn't had an Oscar nomination in over 25 years. Not saying he won't get or deserve one this time around, but I think people have realized when it's just Pacino doing the Pacino thing.
shareTime will tell. I suspect both he and Pesci will make it but Pacino does have the most obvious ‘Oscar clip’ moments with his many rants. I completely agtee with what you are saying, but the fact that Pacino is in a major movie again after so many years may be enough to push him to the front of the line, whether or not he is just doing his usual schtick. Pesci’s role is subtle and quiet, and voters do sometimes prefer histrionics.
One thing which could help Pesci’s case is if he wins any of the major critics awards, which is very possible.
De Niro should get the nomination just for his acting at one of the last scenes. The scene where he is trying to pray with the priest. That got me rolling with loughter.
shareThat phone conversation De Niro had with Hoffa's wife after killing him is enough for him getting a Nomination.
and Pesci should be up there as well.
Pesci was fantastic, definitely deserving of an Oscar for Supporting actor..I am.surprised when I see folk talking up Pacino for this, as I thought Pesci was truly outstanding... And his final scenes are really powerful too.
I think De Niro was supposed to be almost without character for the first 3 hours of the movie... It was a Really understated performance, a guy who follows orders... But then in the last half hour he definitely brings out the acting chops, and I think this may win him best actor.
