High Expectations

Nobody is expecting this to be a run away hit, but expectations are definitely going to be high when this is released. Mainly because nobody behind this movie is looking at it as a final film to bring closure to the Xander Cage character. They are doing this film to set up a potential new XXX trilogy to follow. Diesel definitely wants another franchise outside of FF, and I'm sure Paramount would be more than happy to have another hit franchise on their hands. So it will be interesting to see how it does.

@TheBayHarborButcher Releasing an action movie in January? Paramount may as well advertise that it's a flop.

Yeah, But Columbia Pictures is producing the movie this time instead of Distributing it, So it could be another flop for them too.

No, Paramount is actually distributing it. Revolution Studios are the ones that produced it. Where is it said that Sony is producing it?

Sony Pictures, One Race Films and Roth Kirschenbaum Films had a hand helping Revolution and Paramount produce the movie, it says that right here on Wikipedia and Variety insight, so it's still considered a Sony project.

I'm normally not a fan of action movies but I like these over-the-top ridiculous movies filled with comedy - like the original xXx.

I don't have high expectations. The first one was very entertaining. The second one was terrible. I'm not even sure I'll bother with this one.

But yes, anytime Hollywood can get a successful franchise it will be happy.

Internationally, its going to do gangbusters given the make up of the cast.
Personally, the sole reason I'm seeing this is that it eye candy in 3D and I'm a 3D film fan and on that level, I'm hoping for some corny, MST3K style entertainment.
