January? This is when movies go to die.
Should have figured out a different release date for this crap.
Hack Diesel once again proved he got nothing under his belt other than another sequel to a surprising hit 15 years ago.

I think it looks fun. And January is the perfect time to step out of the cold, into a nice warm theatre and enjoy a cheesy action film with a big tub of popcorn and mountain dew.
shareLol, januari is the movies dumping ground month. It's the month where studios release the movies they think will turn out to be *beep* and that's exactly what this movie gonna be both critically and financially.
shareThe Revenant opened it's wide release in January.
I think some studios are starting to try to make January a little fun for movies by releasing something entertaining. It's not good to make every January a bore fest.
I agree. I was expecting nothing from this movie, but that trailer surprised me. I was surprised to see how much it tried to carry over the feel and vibe of the first. Here's hoping it does decent business. If (and that's a big if) Return does well enough to warrant a sequel, I hope to Christ that they don't for a second consider getting Ice Cube to co-star in it or team up with Xander in some form or another. I truly appreciate what Cube's first three albums did for west coast hip hop, but keep him away from action movies.
shareThe Revenant was Oscar bait. This looks to be a steaming turd about to be dumped in the toilet month for films.
"I'm not a lady, I'm a journalist"
January is when movies goes to die? Hasn't been that way for years now.
I'm way more worried about films opening in August or September than I am about those opening in the beginning of the years.
Your opinion is based on 5 years old / dated data; time to update your narrative.
I remember a few years ago The Last Stand was released in January and flopped. That's too bad considering it was a fun comeback vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger. I just hope that this film won't suffer the same fate.
All I need is one mic...
Exactly. Nobody should expect this to be the best action-adventure ever put on film, just to have a good time watching it.
But expecting a movie to suck solely because of the month its release? That is some 20th century/pre-streaming thinking, right there.
As if this year's summer flicks were all entertaining... please.
January has always been the dumping grounds for movies.
"Think of it. 90% of the population united against a common enemy. We'll be unstoppable!"
Honestly that could work to its advantage.
The villainy you teach me I will execute-and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.
@Motor_Boat January's fine for movies, so long as they're not action.
And January is the least-worst time to release a crap action movie. Once the studio realizes that they've laid a turd, there's no way that they're going to spend money marketing it in prime-time blockbuster season. Dump it in January and move on.
March was such a place then came hunger games
February was such a place then came Deadpool
With tentpoles being scheduled years in advance pretty soon the whole concept will be nonexistent
(Not saying this will be what does it for January just on the whole)
You must die in order to live.

He's in yet another movie that, even if it flops, will probably do wonders for his wallet.
You're posting angry threads on imdb.
Of the two of you, who do you think has less under their belt?
This movie has huge international stars in it. Deepika Padukone is a big name in India and Donnie Yen is huge in Hong Kong (not to mention his big role in Rogue One). I think with Donnie Yen, IP Man 3 was one of 2016's biggest grossing movies.
There are other recognizable names from TV shows I don't watch but other people do. Ruby Rose from Orange Is The New Black, one of the guys from Game of Thrones, UFC fighters...this has all the bases covered.
I predict a big hit.
