Pardon me for not having a clue here (as someone who hasn't seen any of these movies with this guy)......but why is he/the movie called XXX? Is that a nickname or something? (I assume its not intended as a clothing size or a Roman numeral.)

Yeah, it's the program, for those special extreme agents, giving them the name Triple X.
