LOL why even aknowledge the second POS film even exists.....

Seriously I was under the impression they were retconning that turd out of the continuity and pretending that this movie was the sequel to the first, and the one with Ice Cube was a huge box-office failure that everyone hated.

Then Ice Cube started popping up in the TV spots right before its release, and I was like WTF that are admitting the second movie happened what a bunch of idiots, LOL.

I like Diesel but this movie really deserves to fail, and yes it is failing, it may do well overseas just because they through a bunch of Martial arts actors into this, but if it does not make close to its budget back to break even domestically there won't be another movie, the studio will just pocket whatever profits they make internationally and then probably shelve this franchise.

It just confuses people when filmmakers pick and choose which movies to acknowledge.

I won't defend it as a great film by any means, but I actually preferred the sequel.

It's better paced. Ice Cube and Willem Dafoe are more engaging as the hero and villain than Diesel and Generic East European Badguy from the original. Plus, the cheesy humor - like Cube hungrily munching down on burgers while grumbling "Who's Your Daddy?" - actually works.

I agree with you right there. For all of the problems that State of the Union, whether it's dodgy CGI and some over-the-top elements, I felt that Willem Dafoe was a better villain than Marton Csokas. I didn't find myself hating Yorgi as much as Deckert as Yorgi didn't show an evil side until more than halfway through the film. I mostly prefer SotU over the first film.

All I need is one mic...
