A flop...
Wow, this movie is flopping. All the hype and it still is doing poorly in theaters. Vin Diesel is no longer a draw.

shareIt has already done over 70 and it doesn't open in China for 2 more weeks.
shareIt will do well overseas.
Furious 8 will prove that Vin Diesel is still a draw.
Diesel has never been a draw. He's a one trick pony in the one of the worst francises in movie history. Fast and Stupid movies. His only noteworthy character up till now is Riddick.
shareIt's hardly a flop. It made over 70 million world wide it's first weekend in theaters. It's yet to open in China, and the hype over there for this is supposedly pretty big. It's most likely going to end up grossing around 250 million, which on an 85 million budget is pretty good.
shareExcept a movie doesnt keep all of the money it makes overseas. It sees around 25 percent of that. So while this wont be a monumental failure, it will not make much money at all to profit, especially when you consider that the 85 million budget doesnt include marketing.
shareYour thinking of China. The rest of the world it depends on the distribution deals.
Who says violence is not the answer?
This movie hasn't even made 30 million in the US yet. That is not good for a movie that is taking up all the theaters and IMAX too. Poor showing.
shareNo dostribution deal outside of the U.S lets them see 100 percent of the profits becaise the country it is showing in gets to take some of it. Even if it varies, it doesnt change the fact that a lot of its overseas money it wont see and therefore it needed a better U.S showing to secure a good profit.
