Sorry if this has been discussed, but I didn't get why Gibbons re-appeared at the end, if he was killed at the start. Did he fake his death and if so, how and why ?
shareif he deliberately faked his death that means he was in on it the whole time and he will be the bad guy in the next one.
shareWe didn't see him die - we just saw him in a building when a huge explosion happened nearby.
Presumably, he and the other people made it out the back door just in time.
Afterwards, he stayed hidden because he wanted to wait and see if and why someone wanted him dead. That way, he was safe while Xander Cage did all the dangerous stuff.

Who knows why. Maybe the filmmakers thought it was hilarious cause Samuel L just did the exact same thing in the MCU and they're basically the same character.
