Horror icon John Carpenter has no idea 'how you can screw up' Exorcist reboot

What John Carpenter should've said was "Why on earth would you have made this to begin with??" OR, why didn't Blumhouse display some balls and actually stick to the Friday the 13th release date for this and used Taylor Swift's concert to capitalize off a "Double Header" like Barbenheimer?? It would've probably made more than 27 Million for the weekend which when reality sets in, is pretty bad..
shareHopefully he was asking the question while facing a mirror because he should already know the answer.
He did take part in writing Halloween II after all . . .
You didn't care for HALLOWEEN II?? It was basically a continuation of the 1st movie?? HALLOWEEN IV started off decent until they dragged the Supernatural aspect into it and it was all downhill from there..
shareI watched a mini-documentary on Halloween (an extra on the DVD back in the day) and Moustapha Akkad stated outright that they made Halloween II because of all the other films that followed Halloween raking it in. So why not do the same and cash it with what they started with Halloween and what appeared to be selling?
And it shows.
Other reviewers have stated far more succinctly what's wrong with Halloween II so you could pretty much read any bad review and it would express my ideas and sentiments, but while I did like that it picked up where the first one left off and I liked that the two major actors return, the story itself was bland and uninteresting. Just kill after kill with no real emotional investment or storytelling.
Killings for the sole purpose of watching the killings take place.
I do understand at least some of the reasons why people enjoy this kind of experience -- and to each his/her own -- it's just not my thing.
One could argue that the SAW franchise does the killing for the sake of doing so and people seemed to enjoy that??
shareApparently.
But I've never seen a single film in the franchise and have no plans to do so.
You could argue that for most horror franchises. Halloween, Child's Play, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wrong Turn, Leprechaun, the list goes on and on... All killing just for the sake of it. Scream tries to give the killers big, elaborate motives for each movie. But even those are starting to get repetitive. The same reasons, just different characters.
shareI have no idea how Hollywood screws up most of the films that they do. At this point, I'm game for letting AI put those hack writers and directors out of business.
